Top 10 Most Powerful Nigerian Film Producers (photos)

The Nigerian movie industry is a vibrant one and boasts of several talented movie producers who have made a mark in their industry.  Today we not only look at the top 10 most powerful Nigerian film producers but we also celebrate them for their hardwork and consistence.

10. Tchidi Chikere 
With over 50 movies to his credit, this young brilliant man of many caps is increasingly emerging as one of the top class movers and shakers of movie production in Nollywood.  He is also a musician who has had collaboration with OJB Jezreel, Marvellous Benji and Pat Attah. He was recently nominated for the City Peoples Awards.

9. Muyiwa Ademola 
He is an African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) winner for the Best Director of the year in 2009. This top class Nigerian film producer and director is responsible for the widely acclaimed movies titled ‘Ori and Ile’ among others. His rising profile is awe-inspiring.

8. Okey Ezugwu
Okey Ezugwu is a Nigerian filmmaker, distributor and Secretary of ‘Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria’ (FVPMAN).  He has produced excellent movies like the ‘Brother’s Keeper’ which premiered at the Silver Bird Galleria Lagos, Nigeria on February 4th 2014. He is one of the renowned Film Producers Nollywood is proud to have.

7. A.Y (Ayo Makun)
He is a stand-up comedian, actor and now a producer. He owns and host the AY Live Shows. He had to be on our list because this brilliant Nigerian celebrity is just extraordinary.  He ventured into full movie production with the movie comedy, ’30 Days in Atlanta’ which is a blockbuster selling millions of copies when it was premiered last November.

6. Emem Isong
This beautiful lady has achieved great feats as a Nigerian film producer. She is the CEO of one of Nigeria’s best film academies, Royal Arts.  Among movies produced by Isong are Apaye (A Mother’s Love), Knocking on Heavens Door, Before God & Man, Champagne, etc.

5.Fidelis Duker
Fidelis Duker has spent quite a number of years in the Nigerian movie industry as an innovative and creative producer. His proclivity for innovation gave rise to the annual Abuja Film Festival, which attracts thousands of filmmakers around the world.  He is credited with Kids Alone, a first of its kind children TV reality show to be held in West Africa.

4. Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen
He is a multiple award-winning movie director and producer. Among many of his achievements, He is revered for producing the phenomenal movie Invasion 1897, which featured veteran Nigerian actors such as Segun Arinze, Charles Inojie, Nosa Ehimwen, Paul Obazele, Leo Mezie, Mike Omoriegbe, Idiata Otaigbe and the late Justus Esiri in a cameo role.  The movie also starred famous British actors like Rudolph Walker, Charles Chucky Venn, Annika lofti, Garett Mort, Hannah Raehse-Felstead, Tim Robinson, Rob Spackman, Patrick Thompson and Keith Davinson.

3. Chico Ejiro
One of the legends of movie production in Nigeria, he is affectionately referred to as Mr. Prolific. He is the brother to Zeb Ejiro. Chico has won numerous notable awards as a film producer.This list would be inconclusive without mentioning him. He is the man that directed the widely acclaimed soap opera ‘Treasures’ among others.

2. Dickson Iroegbu
He is the National Public Relations Officer of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN). He is one of the most successful film producers in Nigeria producing movies like, The Mayors, Women’s Cot, Burning Desire, Romantic Attraction, Little Angel, Kill The Bride, Broken Marriage, The Trinity and Critical Condition among others.

In 2005, The Mayors was awarded the Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director and Best Picture at the African Movie Academy Awards. Dickson Iroegbu is indeed a force to reckon with in film production in Nigeria.

1. Teco Benson
He occupies our number 1 spot of the Top 10 Most Powerful Nigeria Film Producers for his distinctive professionalism. This dogged film producer has molded many actors into super stars. His movies are always of international standards.  Few of the blockbuster movies to his name include State of Emergency, Six Demons, Explosion, The Senator, The Prince, Wasted Years, Blood Diamond, and Formidable Force among others. He is recipient of many notable awards.
